MISSION VIEJO : Interchange Work Will Be Studied

Share

A study of possible freeway interchange improvements near what could be the future hub of Mission Viejo is under way.

The $48,970 project will assess future traffic demands on Crown Valley Parkway, already one of the city’s major thoroughfares.

The street is home to the Mission Viejo Mall and Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center. Within three years, the city hopes to build an 80,000-square-foot civic center complex on Crown Valley Parkway.

In addition, the Mission Viejo Co. has a major hotel/business park in the planning stages that would add about 1 million square feet of office space on the street.

To offset the expected traffic increase, the city plans an overhaul of the Interstate 5 interchange with Crown Valley Parkway.

The interchange improvements could include extra lanes for on- and off-ramps and upgraded traffic signals where ramps empty onto Crown Valley Parkway.
