Professional golfer Gibby Gilbert III is recovering from reconstructive surgery to repair damage to his face when he was assaulted at an Indianapolis service station, his brother said.
Mark Gilbert said his brother’s cheekbone was broken and nerves in his mouth were severed when he was hit in the head by assailants who wanted his gold chain.
Gilbert was in Indianapolis to caddie for his father, Gibby Gilbert Jr., in a Senior PGA Tour tournament last weekend.
