Singapore Explorer Pass Offers Unlimited Bus Use

Share

If you are headed to Singapore and plan to do a lot of sightseeing, consider purchasing a Singapore Explorer Pass, which permits unlimited travel on the two major bus systems.

The pass, which has to be bought in Singapore, comes with a brochure and map that details various sightseeing attractions. Cost is about $2.85 for one day, $6.85 for three days.

If you don’t expect to travel much while in Singapore, you may be better off paying the regular bus fare between destinations, which starts at about 22 cents for two stops and goes up to about 45 cents. Carry small denominations of currency and coins since bus drivers don’t give change.

Another alternative is taking the underground Mass Rapid Transport System, which is clean, quick and easy to use. It costs about 28 cents for three stops, and there are signs in English.

Travelers passing through Singapore as a connecting point on their flights can still get a quick, complimentary run through the city-state. Transit passengers are eligible for free two-hour motor-coach tours that depart daily from the airport at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. You can only take the 2:30 p.m. tour if your flight departs after 6 p.m., and the 4:30 p.m. tour if your flight leaves after 8.
