California IN BRIEF : ROSEVILLE : Atty. Gen. Captures Burglary Suspect

California Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren can now say he’s a real crime fighter--he captured a man accused of trying to burglarize his van. Lungren, 44, said he was watching television with his family about noon Sunday when he went into his garage to throw away an empty soda can. “I was startled to find someone in my van in the passenger’s seat obviously trying to take something out,” he said. Lungren gave chase and said he cornered the man in a cul de sac. “I think he was thinking he was going to give me some line that he wasn’t the guy,” said Lungren. “I told him he needed a better story and I also told him he picked the wrong house.” When police arrived, they discovered that the man’s car contained a briefcase stolen from one of Lungren’s neighbors and a car stereo.
