COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Penn State Series Cut to Four Games

Share

USC will play fifth-ranked Penn State at the Coliseum on Saturday night in the second game of what was originally scheduled to be an eight-game series. But with Penn State set to join the Big Ten, the schools agreed to shorten the series to four games. They will play at State College, Pa., in 1993 and 1994.

USC, a 24-10 loser to Memphis State in its opener, has not started a season with two consecutive defeats since 1960, when it was beaten by Oregon State, Texas Christian and Ohio State in its first three games under Coach John McKay. USC hasn’t won at the Coliseum since beating Washington State, 30-17, Oct. 6. The Trojans then lost to Arizona, tied California and lost to Notre Dame.
