“MacArthur Singularity,” a 38-foot-tall black granite sculpture that incorporates a continuous stream of water, has been installed at MacArthur Place in Santa Ana. The piece, by Eric Orr of Los Angeles, will be dedicated Saturday at an invitation-only event sponsored by the Santa Ana Council of Arts and Culture, the Greater Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce and other public and private entities.

The Irvine Fine Arts Center will be open fewer hours beginning Sept. 16, as a result of budget cutbacks. The new hours are: noon to 9 p.m. Mondays; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. This fall the Security Pacific Gallery in Costa Mesa also has reduced its hours to 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Bucking the trend, Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman University in Orange has extended its hours through Oct. 18, for the duration of the exhibit “Death as a Creative Force.” The gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
