Bellflower : Building Moratorium for Agricultural Area Extended
- Share via
The City Council has voted to extend a moratorium on development in an area of Bellflower once set aside for agricultural development.
The council voted unanimously to prevent building in a neighborhood just east of downtown where homeowners once kept stables on acre and half-acre lots.
For much of the last decade, stables in the area gradually have been replaced by apartments and large homes. Earlier this summer, some residents of the area complained that the character of the neighborhood could be lost forever if the council allowed development to continue there. In response to the complaints, the council passed a 45-day moratorium on building in the area.
At Monday’s meeting, city staff asked that the moratorium be extended so that they can conduct a survey to determine how residents want to see that area developed.
