Nordstrom Hit With Unfair Labor Complaint: The National Labor Relations Board filed an unfair labor practices complaint against Nordstrom Inc. for refusing to sign a contract with the union representing its Tacoma, Wash., employees. The Tacoma Nordstrom store, with 302 employees, is the only unionized outlet in the 66-store chain. The NLRB ruled last month that United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 367 reached a valid agreement with Nordstrom on a one-year contract, effective Aug. 1. Nordstrom contends that no agreement was reached. An administrative law judge is to hear the issue Dec. 12. An employee group’s petition to oust the union will only be considered if the judge finds no contract existed.
