Seattle Attitude
The opportunity to attend a wedding in the Seattle Arboretum sounded like a great weekend getaway. It had been six years since I lived in the area and I was looking forward to showing off some of my favorite spots. I made it through the wedding reception unharmed after a blunt of California-bashing jokes. The following morning I sat in my hotel room to ready the Sunday edition of the Seattle Times, only to find the front page and assorted inside articles saturated with this California-bashing attitude. What a disappointment to find a city once beaming with creative energy now concentrating its energy into journalistic mudslinging.
I hear a new racehorse is being named in honor of the current Seattle attitude: Seattle Smug.
