U.S. Businesswoman Allowed to Leave South Korea: Doris Waldman, 61, arrived in Los Angeles after authorities had kept her in South Korea for 17 days because of a business dispute. “Other people ought to be forewarned before coming here,” Waldman, 61, said of her troubles trying to leave. “People ought to be advised that if there’s a dispute, they may never get out.” Waldman, a garment buyer from Los Angeles, received a call from the Foreign Ministry saying she was free to go, but it was not clear whether charges against her had been dismissed. Waldman was detained after Seoul’s Bookyung Trading Co. charged her with fraud, contending that she owes them $140,000 for a shipment of sweaters. Waldman operates a two-person firm, Miss Doris of California Inc.
