The San Diego Sockers of the Major Soccer League said they want to sign Diego Maradona, who was banned from soccer until July of 1992 after testing positive for cocaine last spring. The Sockers began pursuing Maradona, the star of the 1986 World Cup and the most celebrated player since Pele, about three weeks ago.
