Wilder’s the Winner: Legendary filmmaker Billy Wilder has been named as the 1991 recipient of the Preston Sturges Award, jointly presented by the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America for career achievement. The presentation on Sept. 29 will culminate a Billy Wilder Weekend Retrospective Tribute which is also jointly sponsored by the two guilds. The open-to-the public retrospective kicks off Sept. 27 at the DGA Theaters and will include screenings of Wilder’s films and discussions of his work.
