Man Wounded in Drive-By Shooting Near Junior High
Gunfire from a passing vehicle critically wounded a young man near Muir Junior High School in South-Central Los Angeles early Wednesday, authorities said.
The shooting at 60th Street and Vermont Avenue near the school occurred at 8:05 a.m., Sgt. Jack Davenport said. The victim, whose name and age were not immediately released, was taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the back, Davenport said.
The circumstances leading to the shooting were not immediately revealed. Police had not determined whether the attack was gang-related.
