World IN BRIEF : ALBANIA : Italian Ship Arrives With Food, Supplies

A ferryboat filled with food and other supplies docked at the port of Durres as Italy began a large-scale relief effort to feed Europe’s poorest nation. It was part of 2,000 tons of aid scheduled for distribution over the next three months throughout Albania. More than 700 unarmed Italian soldiers are scheduled to go to Albania to help coordinate efforts. Thousands of Albanians have fled to Italy.
