Former Minnesota Viking running back Brent McClanahan was put in a diversion program to resolve charges that he was under the influence of a dangerous drug.
If McClanahan successfully completes the drug diversion effort, the criminal case will be dismissed, Bakersfield Municipal Judge John L. Fielder said.
McClanahan was arrested after Kern County sheriff’s deputies answered a disturbance call at his home July 12. Prosecutors said tests disclosed traces of heroin and cocaine in McClanahan’s system.
