Queena took the lead in the stretch and went on to a half-length victory--her fifth in a row--in record time in the $200,000 Ruffian Stakes at Belmont Park.

Queena, ridden by Angel Cordero Jr., was timed in 1:41 3/5 for the 1 1/16 miles and paid $6.20, $3.60 and $2.20. Sharp Dance, under Jose Santos, finished second in the seven-horse field, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Lady D’Accord. Meadow Star finished sixth.

Cordero also won the co-featured Matron Stakes for 2-year-old fillies aboard longshot Anh Duong, who had broken her maiden in her previous start. Anh Duong came from last place in a field of nine to win by six lengths, covering seven furlongs in 1:23 2/5 and paying $47.20, $18.60 and $5.60.
