Bob Gebhard, a vice president of the Minnesota Twins, will become general manager of the Colorado Rockies, and John McHale, son of a former baseball executive, will run the business side of the National League expansion franchise, according to published reports.

Two Minnesota newspapers reported that Gebhard, the Twins’ vice president for player personnel, had been chosen. However, two Denver newspapers reported that Mike Port, former general manager of the Angels, is still in the running with Gebhard.

Denver newspapers reported that McHale, a Denver lawyer who worked on getting the franchise for the city, will join the Rockies next week.
