A crowd of about 200 people rallied on Capitol Hill to protest “environmental extremism” they said is costing American jobs. The rally kicked off a week of lobbying by loggers, miners, ranchers, farmers, fishermen and trappers who believe workers have been ignored in the push to save threatened or endangered species. Rally leaders spoke out against efforts to cut back on logging, raise federal grazing and mining fees and halt economic development in the name of wetlands protection.
