Air Fare-Fixing Settlements: A federal court in Atlanta tentatively approved Trans World Airlines’ and Northwest Airlines’ proposals for settling a price-fixing case that other carriers are still fighting. Lawyers for TWA and Northwest said the two companies will provide millions of dollars in cash and coupons to 50 plaintiffs who claim that they were gouged on air fares. The two also agreed to change the way fares are entered into reservations computers. They are among nine carriers named in a federal antitrust suit. Neither has admitted wrongdoing.
