Three Van Nuys gang members--two adults and a 16-year-old boy--were held on suspicion of attempted murder Wednesday after an unsuccessful drive-by shooting in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles police said.

No one was injured in the shooting. The two adults, ages 22 and 18, were being held without bail at the Van Nuys Jail. The minor was held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall, Sgt. Tim Day said. Their names were not released.

The assailants were driving south in the 5600 block of Sepulveda Boulevard near Burbank Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. when they saw members of a rival gang walking nearby, Day said. They made a U-turn and fired several shots, missing the young men. But a bullet shattered the window of a passing car.

A motorist who witnessed the shooting followed the shooter’s car for several blocks north on Sepulveda Boulevard and provided police with a description which led to the arrests a few minutes later at Sepulveda Boulevard and Parthenia Street. Police confiscated a loaded 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol, Day said.
