Authorities on Thursday arrested two young men in connection with the theft of a 1990 Nissan truck from Newbury Park High School. One of the two is also accused of kidnaping the truck owner and two other students.

Authorities are still searching for two other young men in the incident, which occurred at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday when four men approached 17-year-old senior Brett Stein and two friends at the school. Authorities said the suspects forced the trio into the truck, then left the parking lot, driving around a school administrator who tried to talk to them. They left the three students about half a mile away on Old Conejo Road.

Oxnard police recovered the truck and arrested Corey Lyghts, 21, on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. Police booked Lyghts into Ventura County jail, where he was being held on $5,000 bail.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 17-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, on suspicion of kidnaping and of robbery of a stolen vehicle, authorities said. Richard Simpson, assistant superintendent for instruction for the Conejo Valley Unified School District, described the event as “a fairly brazen kind of incident.”
