Naval Golf Courses

Regarding the recent article on the Navy’s Long Beach golf courses (Part A, Sept. 12), I see no reason why they should remain open.
If the Navy thinks it’s a “quality of life thing,” then why not make them available to the taxpayers who made it possible in the first place. Our “quality of life” could use a little boost, too.
Better yet! Make the land available for affordable housing and improve the “quality of life” for the elderly and homeless.
