A man suspected of committing bank robberies in the “B.O. Bandit” series has pleaded guilty to three counts of bank robbery.

Robert Norris, 44, of Poway could get a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison when U.S. District Court Judge Rudi Brewster sentences him Dec. 2.

The FBI gave the robber the “B.O. Bandit” label because tellers reported the thief had a strong body odor.

Norris pleaded guilty to robbing two San Diego Trust & Savings Banks in San Diego on June 11 and 18, in which a total of $1,437 was taken. He also pleaded guilty to committing a $2,320 robbery of the Bank of America in Escondido on July 29.

According to court records made available Friday, the U.S. attorney’s office will not prosecute Norris in any other bank robberies between May 16 and July 31. He pleaded guilty to the three holdups he was charged with, but, before his arrest, the FBI said the “B.O. Bandit” had committed 11 bank robberies.
