Wetlands Tours--Guided public tours of the Bolsa Chica wetlands will be held Saturday. The tours, sponsored by Amigos de Bolsa Chica, will depart every 20 minutes beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 10:30 a.m. from the wetlands’ ecological reserve.

Fall is a good time to visit the wetlands because of the many shore birds coming back there for the winter. These birds include sandpipers, gulls, dowitchers, godwits, black-bellied plovers, avocets and stilts. Some terns, including a few elegants and some Caspians, are still at the wetlands.

Those who would like to take the tour are asked to meet at the ecological reserve building on Pacific Coast Highway, about half a mile south of Warner Avenue, across from Bolsa Chica State Beach.
