A trial date of Feb. 24 has been set for the Mozart Camerata’s appeal of a small-claims court decision last month awarding $1,000 each to three former Camerata musicians in a breach-of-contract case.

Violinist Tanya Bovaird and violists Dmitri Bovaird and Miriam Meyer each were awarded $1,118 after arguing that they were barred them from a Camerata rehearsal in February despite oral contacts with music director Ami Porat to play with the chamber orchestra for the whole season. The Bovairds and Meyer did not play in the three remaining pairs of concerts.

The Camerata’s appeal will be heard in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana.

About $200 was raised at a concert in Cypress Saturday for the Dispossessed Children of Tecate in Sonora, Mexico. The program, at the Cypress College library, featured Irish, Latin, classical and folk music.
