Sockers Sign 3-Year Lease
The Sockers Tuesday announced a new three-year lease for use of the Sports Arena.
It is the first time the Sockers have arranged a multi-year deal with the arena, according to Randy Bernstein, Sockers executive vice president.
The lease, negotiated by Bernstein and arena president Richard Esquinas, carries through the 1993-94 season.
In other news:
-- Coach Ron Newman announced that Jacques Ladouceur, who has excelled in Newman’s system as a defensive runner, ended his holdout.
-- The Sockers have received payment for 3,400 season tickets, up 1,200 from last year, but still 600 shy of deposits received after a June telethon.
UC San Diego used seven players off the bench as the Tritons defeated Point Loma Nazarene, 2-0, in a nonconference game at UCSD (6-3). Chris Romey and Mike Gerhardt scored for the Tritons. PLNC dropped to 1-8.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Behind Robin Rabello’s nine kills and Tracey Daniels’ 29 assists and five aces, Point Loma Nazarene took a 15-3, 15-7, 15-6 victory from Christian Heritage in a District 3 game at PLNC.
