Karcher Signs Middle East Franchising Pact: Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc. said it is has signed a licensing agreement that will bring Carl’s Jr. restaurants to four Middle Eastern nations, including war-ravaged Kuwait. Dariah Management Services Co., one of the largest privately owned catering companies in the Middle East, will become a Carl’s Jr. licensee in its home country of the United Arab Emirates, as well as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt. The plans call for the first Carl’s Jr. to open in Dubai next year, followed by at least nine other Middle East locations within five years, a spokesman for Karcher said.
