Judge Shoots Down Pink Panther Patrol: A federal judge in New York ruled that a gay-rights activist group must stop using the name Pink Panther Patrol because it infringes on the movie trademark owned by MGM-Pathe Communications Co. U.S. District Judge Pierre Leval granted an injunction against the group on grounds that the public might be confused as to whether promoters of the comic Pink Panther also sponsor the patrol’s cause and efforts. He said the gay group does not need the name to successfully carry out its mission as a protective group for homosexuals.
