Share

Ventura police and the FBI are investigating the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank branch, authorities said Thursday.

The robber told the teller that he had a gun and demanded money, police said. After being given cash, he escaped through a back door. Police would not say how much money was taken.

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon at the bank at 270 S. Mills Road, said Ventura Police Sgt. Roger Nustad.

Nustad described the robber as a Latino man in his early 20s, about five feet, 11 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. The man wore dark pants and a red-and-black long-sleeved shirt. On his head, he wore a black bandanna with white print and a black baseball cap with yellow lettering.

No suspects have been identified. A Wells Fargo official said the same branch was robbed about two years ago.
