In other Villa Park tournament games:

El Toro 6, Capistrano Valley 4 (OT)--Daniel Mathot scored five goals--two in the fourth quarter and one in overtime--for El Toro, which rallied from a 4-2 fourth-quarter deficit to win the semifinal game. Capistrano Valley led, 4-2, with 3:40 left, but Mathot scored two goals, each while El Toro had a man-up advantage. Mathot scored another man-up goal in overtime to give the Chargers the lead for good. Five of the Chargers’ six goals came after a Capistrano Valley ejection.

Fullerton 11, Sonora 10--Matt Swan scored the winning goal for Fullerton (9-8) with 2:03 left in the second overtime period in a consolation-round game. Swan also scored the tying goal with five seconds left in regulation. Paul Marceau gave Sonora its lead with 50 seconds remaining in regulation.

In the Stanford cross-country invitational:

Corona del Mar wins--Mike Bradford finished in 12th place to help Corona del Mar capture the boys’ championship. Corona del Mar finished with 93 points, nine points ahead of second-place Sonora (106).

Bradford had a time of 16 minutes 54 seconds over five kilometers, which was 52 seconds behind the winner, Mark McManus of San Ignatius. Tim Timmons of Corona del Mar finished 16th with a time of 17:09.

In the Orange County Invitational tennis tournament:

Corona del Mar sweeps--Marsie Asch won the singles title and the team of Jenny Murdy and Jenny Glasgow won in doubles for the Sea Kings at Costa Mesa High School.

Asch defeated Sandy Needham of Santa Margarita in the finals, 6-2, 6-3. Murdy and Glasgow defeated Corona del Mar teammates Christine Winton and Christie O’Meara, 6-1, 7-5, in the finals.

In nonleague eight-man football:

Liberty Christian 32, Temple Christian Perris 0--Greg Rule scored one touchdown and caught three passes for 44 yards for Liberty Christian (3-1). Emilio Llansas gained 71 yards in 17 carries and had two receptions for 25 yards for Temple Christian (2-1).
