Counselors and admissions officers from 40 state and private colleges and universities will be at Golden West College today to help students and community members plan for pursuing a four-year degree.

“This is our annual University Transfer Day, and it’s free and open to the public,” said Lori Thomas, a spokeswoman for Golden West.

Counselors from the four-year colleges and universities will be at Golden West’s Center Patio, outside the college cafeteria, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“College and university representatives will discuss financial aid, housing, admissions procedures and other subjects throughout the day,” Thomas said. “The Air Force, Army and Navy will also be present.”

University Transfer Day, sponsored by Golden West’s Counseling Office, is “designed to quickly and conveniently provide Golden West College students and community members with answers about continuing their education,” Thomas said said.

She added that persons need not be students at Golden West to take part in Transfer Day activities and academic-preparation counseling.
