Palmdale Man Dies as Motorcycle, Van Crash
A Palmdale man died when his motorcycle collided with a van whose driver was later arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of the accident in Pacoima, police said Tuesday.
The name of the 24-year-old motorcyclist was withheld because relatives had not yet been notified. He was pronounced dead at the scene at Glenoaks Boulevard and Del Sur Street about 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Francisco Valdez Soto, 43, who was driving the van, was arrested three hours later at his apartment on Rampart Street in Los Angeles. He was being held at the Van Nuys Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
The accident occurred as Soto was negotiating a U-turn from the northbound to the southbound lanes of Glenoaks Boulevard. The motorcyclist, also northbound, collided with the van’s left front.
