ANAHEIM : Developer Fees Are Increased 56%

Share

To keep pace with the demand for more municipal parkland, the City Council on Tuesday approved a 56% increase in “green” fees paid by developers who build housing projects in the city.

The new fees, which would add up to $170,000 per year to city coffers for new parks, will be billed to developers of apartment units, single-family homes, condominiums and mobile home parks.

City officials said the increases--the largest being a $1,464.37-per-unit hike for developers of apartment buildings of two to four units--were based on 1990 census findings that showed an upsurge in household density levels in multifamily and single-family dwellings.

“Green fees” for homes will increase from $4,130.25 per unit to $4,205.35, condominium fees will go from $3,041.37 to $3,266.65 and fees per mobile home will go from $2,127.71 to $2,515.17. The new rates become effective in 60 days.
