Return Postage: A. R. Gurney’s “Love Letters” is returning to the Canon Theatre, where it recently ended a 16-month run. The new engagement, prompted by “hundreds of phone calls” from potential customers, will open Nov. 12 and play at least eight weeks, but it will not be “another long-term sit-down run,” said co-producer Joan Stein. Ben Gazzara and Gena Rowlands, booked for Dec. 23-Jan. 5, will be among the rotating couples starring in the two-character play. Rick Reynolds’ “Only the Truth Is Funny” will close at the Canon on Nov. 10.
