More Hyundai: In a deal intended to boost sales and increase product visibility, Hyundai Motor America has signed a two-year pact to provide new Excels to Enterprise Leasing for use at Enterprise rental lots in Southern California.

The first sale of more than 3,000 Hyundai Excels was completed this week.

It is Hyundai’s first fleet sale to an auto rental firm--a milestone in any car company’s life. It means the rental company believes the cars will stand up to the abuses to which rental cars are subjected. It also puts thousands of Hyundai’s cars on the road and in the possession of drivers who might never have been exposed to the vehicles.

Enterprise, headquartered in Carson, is a national organization, and Hyundai hopes the deal will lead to a nationwide supply contract.
