VENTURA : Action on Bus Route Complaints Delayed

Share

Bus riders and residents angry over two Ventura route changes will have to wait until Nov. 6 for South Coast Area Transit board members to take action on their complaints.

The board considered the complaints Wednesday and delayed the matter until the November board meeting, when more research on the route changes will be available.

The changes took effect Aug. 18. One involves a new route, 12, that runs from Buenaventura Plaza to Ventura Harbor and back via residential streets.

Residents along Preble Avenue, Borchard Drive and Ocean Avenue complained that the buses were noisy, polluting and hazardous in the residential area. They also contended that few, if any, residents in the neighborhood rode the bus.

Three residents at the board meeting Wednesday complained that they were not notified about the new route before its inception. They submitted petitions from residents upset over the bus service through their neighborhood.

The other change involves Thompson Boulevard. The bus that runs from Buenaventura Plaza to Ojai previously traveled on Thompson Boulevard but now runs along Main Street, several blocks away.
