The nation’s largest organization of dentists has approved a resolution opposing mandatory AIDS testing for health care workers. The American Dental Assn., meeting in Seattle, also backed the use of precautions in treating patients, including the use of surgical gloves to prevent blood exchanges between patient and dentist. And the group voted to encourage voluntary testing of health care professionals in high-risk groups, including those who use needles, engage in unsafe sex or have had a blood transfusion.
