Controversy Over No-Fault
I can’t believe some California politicians have aligned themselves with an insurance industry that is not only stalling the reforms and rebates of Proposition 103 but advocating a no-fault system that was overwhelmingly defeated in 1988.
Consumer advocates Ralph Nader and Harvey Rosenfield are right: No-fault is not the answer to affordable car insurance. No-fault not only compromises our rights but lets drunk drivers who cause accidents off the hook.
No-fault auto insurance means the insurance industry decides if you get paid, when you get paid and how much you get paid. Let’s hope the Legislature can outfox the insurance industry by coming up with an insurance plan that cuts rates, not rights.
