Valencia Routs Fullerton, Wins Fifth in a Row

Valencia cruised past another Freeway League entry Friday with a 39-7 victory over Fullerton in a nonleague football game in front of about 2,000 at Fullerton District Stadium.

Valencia (5-0) beat Troy, another member of the Freeway League, 35-0, a week ago.

Valencia gained 222 yards rushing, using eight different ballcarriers. The Tigers, ranked fourth in Orange County, scored on four of their first five possessions and led at the half, 32-7.

The first touchdown came when Korey Alexander broke off left tackle for 42 yards with 8:49 left in the first quarter. Chris Draft scored from 21 yards out with five minutes remaining in the quarter and Valencia led, 12-0.

Early in the second quarter, Valencia defensive end Brent Turner recovered a fumble at the Fullerton 15 to set up the third score. Two plays later, Ryan Roskelly scored the first of his two touchdowns on a seven-yard run.

Fullerton (1-3-1) scored its only touchdown on a nine-yard pass from quarterback Keith Ginter to Daniel Chacon with 8:37 left in the half.

Roskelly brought Valencia back on the following kickoff, returning it 86 yards down the left sideline for a touchdown and a 32-7 lead.
