John Peloza and His Teachings Are Taken to Task

I think Mr. Peloza has missed the point of his battle (or the media has misrepresented his plight). The issue is not, it seems to me, whether creationism should be taught in public schools. The issue is whether evolution, a theory, should be taught as a fact.

We do our high school kids a disservice when we present to them only one side of the argument. They’re thinkers. They can sift through the data and choose rationally.

I teach high school students and see their potential for decision-making on a daily basis. Whether we teach creationism, Make-Up-Your-Ownism or evolution, kids need to be told the truth--that in spite of advances in scientific study, we have no “proof” of our origin.
