Little Tokyo to Bloom With 3,000 Orchids in 5th Show

More than 3,000 exotic orchids including the large, richly colored Cattleyas, “butterfly orchids, Hawaiian dendrobiums and coloratums will be exhibited at the 5th annual East West Orchid Show Oct. 25-27 in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles.

Orchid plants from 29 growers in California, Hawaii, Oregon, Texas, Florida, Japan and Thailand will be displayed at the New Otani Hotel & Garden and at Weller Court Shopping Center.

Activities, including seminars and demonstrations and viewing of the prize-winning floral entries is open to the public and free of charge. Show hours on Oct. 25 and 26 are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; on Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

With judging by the American Orchid Society and Orchid Digest Corp., awards for best display, individual plants and design will be presented on Oct. 25.
