The decomposed body of a woman was discovered by a group of hikers Sunday as they walked along a ravine in Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The body, believed to be that of a woman in her 30s, was found at 9:30 a.m. about 20 yards from Angeles Forest Highway just south of Aliso Canyon Road, deputies said.
The hikers contacted the U. S. Forest Service, which alerted the Sheriff’s Department, sheriff’s spokesman Ron Spear said.
No identification was found on the body, which investigators believe had lain there for several weeks.
Spear declined to disclose the cause of death because the information might have a bearing on the investigation.
