Cal has entered the top 10 of the Associated Press college football poll for the first time in 23 years.
Cal (5-0) rose six spots to seventh after beating Oregon, 45-7. It is the school’s first top-10 appearance since Oct. 28, 1968, when the Bears were ranked eighth with a 5-1 record.
Florida State, which has been No. 1 since the start of the season, retained the top spot. The Seminoles (6-0) received 56 of 59 first-place votes and 1,472 points from a nationwide panel of sports writers and broadcasters. They also remained No. 1 in the USA Today/CNN coaches’ poll.
