Ventura County sheriff’s deputies arrested three Simi Valley residents and seized a cache of weapons after discovering marijuana plants growing in a back yard, an official said Thursday.

Thomas and Eileen Mineburg and Earl Groves, all 44, were arrested Wednesday afternoon at their home on the 2000 block of Guerne Avenue on suspicion of cultivating and possessing marijuana for sale.

Groves was also booked on suspicion of possession of an illegal weapon, a sawed-off shotgun. All three were released after posting bail.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Pentis said narcotics detectives raided the house after receiving a tip from an informant.

Investigators seized six 6-foot-tall marijuana plants worth about $91,000, 10 pounds of marijuana and seven weapons, including two 12-gauge shotguns, a loaded .30-caliber World War II rifle and four handguns. The two men said they worked as computer repairmen, Pentis said.
