CYPRESS : College Offers New Registration System

Share

Cypress College will introduce a new early registration system next month that will make it easier for students to sign up for the classes they want.

Under what is called the “advantage” plan, eligible students will be able to pick up a spring registration form at the college, fill it out and return it on the same day.

“The advantage of this system is that students can take this opportunity to get the classes they need,” said Sandy McLeod, dean of admissions and records.

According to McLeod, only about 4,000 students participated in early registration when they received their packets through the mail, the process that Cypress College has used for the last two years. He estimates that three times as many students may use the “advantage” system because it is more convenient.

Under the plan, continuing students can pick up their spring registration packets in the Admissions Annex any weekday Nov. 4-15.

After selecting classes, students will have the option of mailing back their packets or returning them to a drop box that will be in the admissions office foyer. All early registration packets must be submitted to the admission office by Nov. 15.

At that time, students must also pay all applicable registration fees.

There are some restrictions on those who are eligible to apply, McLeod noted. Students on probation and those with outstanding fines such as unpaid athletic fees or overdue library books will be required to clear their accounts before registering.
