ALUMNI PLATES: Proud of your college? Gov. Pete Wilson recently signed a bill which will soon allow you to get a license plate bearing your alma mater’s name and logo. Its sponsor, Sen. Frank Hill (R-Whittier), whose district includes parts of Orange County, says similar programs work in Florida and Arizona. “It can raise badly needed funds for scholarships, at no cost to the state,” he says. . . . But take note: Smaller schools may not generate enough business to merit a plate, and the colleges must be in California.
