Altadena : Housing Project Opposition

Share

The Town Council last week reiterated its opposition to the proposed La Vina housing project.

In a 11-1 vote Tuesday, the council cited three letters in a supplemental environmental impact report as evidence that the proposed 272-unit project at the edge of Angeles National Forest should be scaled down.

Two of the letters from the state Department of Fish & Game and the U.S. Department of Agriculture described the loss of wildlife and wetland that would be caused by the proposed 200-acre development. A third, from the county Fire Department, said money is not available for fire facilities.

The county’s Regional Planning Commission plans to visit the site Nov. 19 and will conduct its second public hearing on the supplemental environmental report at 9 a.m. Nov. 20 in the County Hall of Records.
