Free Flu Shots Offered

The fall flu season is here, and with it comes the annual call to get immunized. The American Red Cross and the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services will make flu shots available free beginning Monday at a number of health centers.

Public health officials say the flu vaccine is especially recommended for senior citizens over age 55, people with long-term heart or lung problems, with cancer or immunological disorders, or those being treated for kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, anemia or severe asthma. But people who have a sensitivity to eggs, or who have a serious illness, should consult their physician beforehand.
