A 23-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday after he was shot in the head in Oxnard’s La Colonia area.

The victim, identified as Julian Roque Perez, was discovered wounded in his car at the intersection of Cooper Road and Hayes Avenue shortly before 2 a.m.

Perez was shot through his left eye, said Terry Miklos, a firefighter with the Oxnard Fire Department who was at the scene. He was found in the driver’s seat of a red sports car, and the bullet had entered on the driver’s side window, which was shattered, Miklos said.

Perez was taken to St. John’s Hospital and then transferred to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remained on life-support systems Saturday evening.
