Boulevard to Close for Street Fair
A section of Ventura Boulevard will be closed to traffic for 12 hours today for the Sherman Oaks Street Fair and Carnival.
Ventura, often known as the “Main Street” of the San Fernando Valley, will be blocked off between Cedros Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. East-west traffic will be diverted onto Moorpark and Dickens streets, which parallel Ventura Boulevard.
The closure will mark the first time in memory that the busy boulevard has been intentionally closed for such a long period.
The Street Fair, sponsored by the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce, will last from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will include music, arts and crafts, food booths and a petting zoo.
Proceeds will go to the chamber and five elementary schools.
